On the 7th November, 2012, the Executives and Advisors of the Bahamas National Youth Council (BNYC) were extended a courtesy call on behalf of His Excellency Hu Shan, Ambassador to The Bahamas for The People’s Republic of China.

During the courtesy call, the President of the BNYC mentioned that the Council aspires to build a closer relationship with Chinese youth. His Excellency Hu Shan explained a number of opportunities for Bahamian Youth to engage in dialogue with Chinese youth beginning with an invitation to speak with the young Chinese engineers working on the Baha Mar Development. He continued stating that the initiation of that dialogue will open other doors and further welcomed the Council to attend their events.

Additionally, he discussed Chinese traditions and customs along with the positive relationship between the Government of The Bahamas and the People’s Republic of China. Executives were very impressed and applauded the efforts of the Chinese Government in addressing issues of youth within their country. His Excellency Hu Shan then took the executives and advisors on a tour of the Embassy and gave a brief overview of the visa application process and procedures.

The courtesy call is keeping in accordance with the aims and objectives of the BNYC which includes ensuring that there is a constant and continuous dialogue with foreign diplomats to ensure young Bahamians are also sensitized to global youth issues.

The BNYC will be celebrating its 5th Year Anniversary on the 25th November, 2012 with an evening of live entertainment, great food and networking with some of the country’s most influential persons and decision makers. His Excellency has donated Chinese artifacts to the BNYC for the silent auction. Part proceeds from both the silent auction and ticket sales will be donated to R.E.A.C.H, an organization supporting autism awareness and education. He along with other personnel will be present to show their support for Bahamian youth.
