United Airlines has added a direct flight to Nassau, Bahamas, from Chicago as part of its multi-million dollar O’Hare Airport expansion. Direct flights will come to Nassau from Chicago every Saturday during peak season. The flights will begin February 9, 2013.

The airline made its announcement Tuesday.  The Nassau flight is one of four roundtrip additions that go along with United’s $40 million service improvements at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.  The other five destinations are:

* Monterrey, Mexico – Daily service beginning December 19

* Thunder Bay, Canada – Daily service beginning February 14

* Jackson, Mississippi – Daily service beginning February 14

* Anchorage, Alaska – Daily peak winter service, December 19 – January 2 (added to existing daily summer service)

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel released a statement in support of United’s expansion and improved services.
