As of June 6th 2012, Cape Eleuthera Resort has effectively closed its public face, shutting down its website and pulling all advertising as the resort undergoes a purported significant change. Exactly what this change is, is not being revealed, but, Manager of the property, Dan Oliver, was confident in saying on Wednesday that the resort is not closing, however, the “owners” are changing the way it does business – with no further details available at this time.
Amidst much rumor around the island, Cape Eleuthera’s longtime manager Stephen Kappeler resigned his post on May 4th, catching many by surprise. He had been at the resort since its reopening in 2006. Kappeler, an advent promoter of his resort and the island of Eleuthera, announced his departure to The Eleutheran, saying, simply, “I have resigned from the Cape and Dan Oliver will be overseeing all Cape Operati ons… He is a great guy and has been with me there for years and knowledgeable in all aspects of the Cape and Eleuthera carrying things positively forward.”
Only in April 2012, the former manager extolled the Bahama Coffee Company Restaurant at the resort which he said did almost $0.5 million last year, as the busiest restaurant in South Eleuthera in dollar volume and likely guest counts.
The resort currently employs approximately 49 persons.
