Coach Marvin Henfield gives young campers pointers on shooting technique.

(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – During the week of July 2nd to July 6th, Coach Sherwin Major, Coach Marvin Henfield and Coach Audie Kerr conducted the second annual Young Ballers Club Basketball Camp at the public court in Palmetto Point.  The sixteen registered campers, which this year included two girls as well, hit the court from 10am to 1pm daily.  Throughout the week, they learned new basketball skills and drills, and competed in 2, 3, and 5 on 5 games, honing their natural talents and gaining more in depth knowledge about the mechanics and techniques of the game.

On the final day, the coaches rewarded outstanding participants in the program, first, presenting all campers with certificates, then recognizing champs in 2 ball (Derek Rahming and Mackenson Saintilmond), 3 on 3 competition winners (Gregory Compere and team), best attendance (Cortez Cooper, Derek Rahming and Simeon Bethel), best free throw shooter (Mackenson Saintilmond), best 3 point shooter (Kaylyn Culmer) and best overall camper (Adonis Turnquest).

Next year, coach Major shared that they are looking forward to an even bigger and better basketball camp, and hopes to attract more sponsors to assist with busing, which he said would make the camp available to more young persons from a wider area of central Eleuthera.
