(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Mid-morning on Monday, July 25th, the entire island of mainland Eleuthera and Harbour Island were affected by an unexpected power outage, which originated at the Rock Sound Power Plant, when reportedly, an engine ‘tripped’, which subsequently affected the power system island wide. The outage lasted for approximately 45 minutes to an hour, until the affected engine was brought back on line.
A planned outage for areas north of Hatchet By, including Harbour Island was also announced on Monday, as being scheduled for Wednesday, July 27, 2016 for four (4) hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to facilitate overhead line construction and maintenance.
The affected areas will include Hatchet Bay, Gregory Town, Eleuthera Island Shores, Gaulding Cay, Whale Point, Upper and Lower Bogue, The Current, Current Island, The Bluff, Blackwood, Genes Bay, Three Island Dock, and Harbour Island.
