(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Drivers in the area north of Gregory Town on the morning of Sat. June 4 are advised to use caution as cyclists and runners will be sharing the road as part of the annual Pineappleman Sprint Tri & 5K. From 8 am to 11 a.m. from Festival Park to Whale Point Road look for cyclists and runners. Please use caution especially at Daddy Joe’s – the race start and finish site. Runners will be going over and back across the Glass Window Bridge. There is a bike turnaround at Festival Park. The general public is encouraged to come cheer on racers along the course and at Festival Park. Day-of registration is also available.

PARKING ADVISORY: Limited parking in Daddy Joe’s lot. Limited parking at Gaulding Cay Beach – do not block roadway.  Some parking in cleared lot immediately north and adjacent to Daddy Joe’s. Ample parking 300 yards south – in clearing alongside road opposite big field.

Beach start.
It will be close to high tide June 4, but expect approx. 25-35 yards of shallow water/dolphin dives before you get to swimming depth.
Swim out 50 yards and round first buoy on your right. Swim 200 yards to second buoy, also round it on the right. Swim back towards buoy closer to beach start, round it on your left.
Run up beach and follow road 400 yards, across Queen’s Highway and into transition area at Daddy Joe’s. Stay left entering transition area.
The 400-yard run is on a sandy road, but for tenderfeet rinse off water and a space to put on shoes will be provided on the beach.

ENTER/EXIT TRANSITION: The rule for entering and exiting the transition area will be to Keep Left.

Cycle Route
Helmets on before moving bike off rack. Walk/jog to transition exit point (marked), mount up, stay left and ride south (left turn), staying with traffic. Ride approx.. 3 miles south to turnaround at north end of Gregory Town. Encounter The Hill close to the 2.5 mile mark, and then again at the 3.5 mile mark. Turnaround traffic cone keeping it on your right. Volunteers and police support will help stop/slow traffic – be aware – THE ROADS REMAIN OPEN.

Keeping left, cycle continues north to the Glass Window Bridge. Pedal past transition area – way to go! – shorter climbs encountered; turnaround traffic cone  before the bridge. Pedal back south enter transition on left at DJ’s.

5K run course

(5K fun run/walk: Start about 8.45am after first triathletes begin their run leg.)

Runners exit on left side of transition, but then stay on right of road (against traffic) heading north back to the GW Bridge. Runners yield to cyclists who may be entering transition. Cyclists please give runners 2 meters clearance when passing them along the route, you will be on the same side of the road moving in opposite directions.

Run north and OVER the GW Bridge. Climbs before AND after the bridge. Turnaround at Whale Pt. Rd. Water station. Note the GW Bridge is the 1.1 mile mark.
