(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – The Bahamas Outstanding Students Foundation, coordinated by Ms. Audrea Scavella in the Eleuthera District, held its 12th Annual Awards Ceremony on Tuesday afternoon, May 24th, 2016 at the Ministry of Education’s Resource Center in Savannah Sound.  The event which got started at 12:30pm saw scores of primary, junior high and high school students, throughout the district, recognized for their excellence in both academics and in sports, having achieved G.P.A.’s of 3.0 and above.

The four top students recognized as having the highest G.P.A.’s on the island, for the 2015 Christmas term included; Top Primary School Female: Jahzara Taylor, of Emma Cooper Primary (3.70 – grade 6 – seated in the front row of the picture below); Top Primary School Male: Johnathan Randall, of P. A. Gibson Primary (3.86 – grade 6 – seated in the front row of the picture below); Top High School Female: Allie Pinder, of Samuel Guy Pinder All Age (3.92 – grade 9 – not pictured); and Top High School Male: Charlton Kade Roberts, of Samuel Guy Pinder All Age (grade 11 – seated in the front row of the picture above).

Mr. Joel Lewis, Deputy Director of Education attended the occasion, themed – “Keep your Eyes on the Prize” in the absence of Patron, Mr. Lionel Sands, Director of Education in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Founder of the awards program, which takes place in districts across the country, former senator Ricardo Whylly, was also on hand for the ceremony, and gave special recognition to island coordinator, Ms. Scavella, for the tireless work she put into organizing the event on island each year.
