(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Gale force winds howled across Eleuthera on Wednesday night, January 6th, 2016, as predicted by meteorologists. According to the experts, it was a broad surface low over Andros that in combination with a frontal boundary extending northeast and southwest, intensified into a gale center as it moved northeast overnight creating adverse weather across much of the central and northwest Bahamas. It was dramatic but short lived, as by morning across Eleuthera the sun was out, the winds had died down, though seas still pounded the coastline.

At the Glass Window bridge, the concrete barriers standing on Wednesday afternoon toppled overnight, once again. It is a testament to the power of the waves that come over the cliffs and also to the barriers’ ineffectiveness in withstanding those forces – a very temporary measure currently in place, meant to provide safety to the motoring public.
