(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – On Monday morning, July 6th, 2015, shortly after 10am, three people appeared in magistrate’s court in Harbour Island – two adult males and one adult female.  All three were charged in connection with an incident on July 4th, 2015  which resulted in injuries to two American visitors. One of the visitors, Enrique Viyella, suffered a stab wound to the back during a reported physical altercation and his friend, Fernando Lauria, suffered an injury to his nose.

28 year old, Sedale Percentie of Harbour Island was charged with “Causing Dangerous Harm”, to which he pleaded not guilty.  The case has been adjourned until September 28th, 2015, and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections.  Percentie, along with 18 year old Claron Moss, of Harbour Island were also charged with “Robbery With Violence”, to which they both answered with a plea of not guilty.  Claron Moss was also remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections, until the resumption of the  case, set for September 28th, 2015. Additionally, Moss was also charged with “Causing Harm” to Fernando Lauria, to which he pleaded not guilty as well.

The young female involved, 24 year old, Chyna Ross of Harbour Island, was charged with “Receiving” (a 2010 golf cart, which was being driven by Enrique and Fernando at the time of the incident).  She entered a plea of not guilty, and her matter was adjourned until September 28th, 2015.  She was released on $5,000 bail, with two sureties.

“I want to thank the members of the public who assisted the police thus far with closing this matter so swiftly, and I commend my police officers in Harbour Island, who in my opinion has done an exceptional job,” commented Superintendent of Police for the Eleuthera District, Christopher Wright.  

He continued, “I also want to thank the medical team here on Harbour Island who rendered medical assistance and were able to treat both patients, and to get Enrique out of here in a timely manner.  He was airlifted to Doctor’s Hospital in Nassau, and he is now at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, where his condition is serious.”
