The Wesley Methodist Church in James’ Cistern played host to scores of students, big and small, from area schools on Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 during the Central Eleuthera Annual District Carol service.

The morning event which began at 10 a.m., saw preschools; primary schools and high schools come together in celebration of the approaching Christmas season. In the audience were participating students, teachers, local government officials, and a number of supportive parents – taking time out of their busy mid-week day to cheer on their little ones.

Each school in attendance performed or rendered a musical item, including recitations, songs, instrumentals, band performances, choir selections, skits and praise dances, as well as medleys.

A presentation given by the P.A. Gibson Primary School of Hatchey Bay, which infused the cultural rhythms of Junkanoo, with a traditional Christmas medley of ‘Ruppa Pum Pum’ and ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’, had audience members tapping and they showed their appreciation of the creative display with a rousing round of applause.

Guest speaker during the service was Minister Kevin Pinder, followed by Mrs. Vernita Bethel, who prayed a prayer of blessing for students and communities throughout the district.
