(Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera, Bahamas) Eleuthera saw a tragic traffic fatality on Friday, September 27, 2013, with the loss of local entrepreneur and restaurateur, Mr. Avian Morley. According to authorities and witness accounts, Mr. Morley and a second motorcyclist were travelling south on Queen’s Highway around 7pm when he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle around the sharp curve approaching the Governor’s Harbour airport. The motorcycle crashed into a fenced area and Mr. Morley was thrown from his motorcycle onto the highway.

Authorities confirmed that the medical team which responded to the accident examined Mr. Morley, who was found to be unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Immediate family members, who had been informed of the accident, arrived at approximately 8:49pm, shortly before Mr. Morley was transported to the morgue in Harbour Island – to await further transport to New Providence on Saturday morning.
According to authorities, he had recently celebrated his 41st birthday on September 13th, 2013. Witness accounts, said that Mr. Morley had earlier in the evening arrived on the Island Link ferry into Hatchet Bay with the motorcycle, a recent purchase, which he was driving at the time of the accident.
Mr. Morley, with his wife and family, operated Coco’s Restaurant & Bar, as well as the newly opened Conch House at the Cape Eleuthera Resort.
