This car, driven by a young male, slammed into a utility pole just north of the town of Governor’s Harbour on Thursday afternoon around 4 pm. The impact broke the pole and caused electricity to go out in the area. Rain has been falling over the Governor’s Harbour region since earlier in the afternoon and roads would have been wet at the time.
The driver was able to walk away from the scene of the accident, however, Police reportedly planned on escorting him to the local clinic, after their initial assessment of the scene.

Electricity to customers in the Governor’s Harbour area, north of the accident site went off as a result of the incident, and according to authorities will stay that way until BEC crews can repair the damage and reroute the supply.

Update:7:30pm

BEC crews have completed their repairs and are giving other utility companies the opportunity to repair their lines before restoring electricity to the area. Thunderstorms with torrential rain  are over Governor’s Harbour currently however repairmen were seen in their bucket trucks working to have the work completed in the early evening.

Update: 8:00pm – Electricity fully restored after four hours.
