On August 9th, while participating in the Triple Jump at the London Olympic games, the 2008 bronze medalist, Leevan Sands suffered a knee injury on his 4th jump, which resulted in him being carted off on a stretcher. He finished 5th overall with a jump of 17.19m.
Via social media a message from Leevan was passed on: He says “Thanks for ALL of the support, I really wanted this for my country, I’ll get it next time and I WILL bounce back”. He wanted to share this photo to show that all is well and that there is strength in the 242, even in our struggles.
Leevan is linked to Eleuthera by marriage, to Mrs. Danielle Sands nee Burrows, of the Burrows family in Governor’s Harbour.
