Spanish Wells residents celebrate on Tuesday, July 10 beginning at 11am at the Public dock with the ‘Slippery Pole’ and fun water sports activities. Festivities move on to the Spanish Wells Ballpark at 6pm, where a full program is planned with a dance competition, best Independence colors awards, live band music (Spider & The Boys), food and craft stalls, culminating with fireworks at 10pm. In the capital, Governor’s Harbour, activities for Central Eleuthera begin at 10pm on the evening of Monday, July 9th, with an ecumenical service, held on the grounds of the administrative complex. In South Eleuthera, the Rock Sound homecoming site will be the venue for Independence celebrations, beginning at 9:30pm on the evening of Monday, July 9th, with a cultural show, including drama and folklore, a fashion show and a junkanoo rush-out, followed by a flag raising ceremony.
