Cape Eleuthera will be closing its resort and completely changing its operations at that Southern coast of Eleuthera. On June 6th 2012, Cape Eleuthera Resort effectively closed its public face, shutting down its website and pulling all advertising as the development undergoes its metamorphosis.
According to the new resort manager, Dan Oliver, the Cape Eleuthera Resort and Marina is now in the process of transitioning from a hotel operation to a private vacation homes model.
He said that there are no set deadlines currently, but that the homes will be refurbished and put on the market, which could take place before the end of this year. Oliver confirmed that the resort is still taking care of its client bookings during the summer months. However, they will be making preparations to close over the course of the summer, with the restaurant closing on July 6th, 2012.
The resort currently employs approximately 49 persons. Oliver, shared that some staff would be retained after the closure depending on the needs of the operation, which are currently being evaluated, and would be ongoing throughout the course of preparations for closure.
