(Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera) Central Eleuthera High School on Friday, June 8th, held its graduation ceremony for their 56 senior class students, a number of them with GPA’s over 3.0, moving on now to either tertiary education or the job market. 

Presenting their awards of accomplishment were distinquished members of the Central Eleuthera community, including; Mr. Lawrence Griffin, businessman and founding donor; Ms. Shirley Burrows, community evangelist;  Mr. Joshua Culmer businessman, pastor and founding donor, Mr. Chrisfield Johnson, administrator of Central Eleuthera; Mr. Elburt Ferguson, superintendent of Police and OIC of the Central Bahamas,  Mrs. Yvonne Bethel, wife of former MP for Central Eleuthera and founding donor, Mr. Philip Bethel;  Mr. Kirkwood Cleare in the District Education Office, Mr. Oswald Ingraham, former MP for South Eleuthera; and Mr. Damian Gomez, MP for Central and South Eleuthera and Minister of State for Legal Affairs.

Principal Michael Culmer and many members of his staff were out to mark this momentous occasion with the young men and women.

Reverend John Baldwin, regional pastor with the Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church based in North Eleuthera was the event’s special guest speaker.  He presented an eloquent and passionate charge to the graduates – affirming the powerful potential for success that each one of them carried inside them, and the need to access and use that potential to achieve in their future.  Baldwin also took parents head on, admonishing those unwilling to be positive, responsible role models in their children’s lives, encouraging them to support  their prodigies as they go forward in life.

Jesse Courtemanche, receiving his ‘Most Outstanding Male’ – Principal’s List Award from Damian Gomez, Minister of Legal Affairs and MP for South and Central Eleuthera.


Vashte Nairn, receiving her ‘Best All Around Female’ – Principal’s List Award from Damian Gomez, Minister of Legal Affairs and MP for South and Central Eleuthera.


Chantell Massillion, receiving the ‘Academic Merit’ Award, for consistently being on the Honor Roll through High School, from Damian Gomez, Minister of Legal Affairs and MP for South and Central Eleuthera.


Nicole Dicenord, receiving her ‘Class Valedictorian – Principal’s Award’ – for maintaining the highest GPA through grades 10 – 12, from Damian Gomez, Minister of Legal Affairs and MP for South and Central Eleuthera.
