Police are questioning a 23 year old male in connection with the shooting death of 70 year old BELPHEAM LIGHTBOURNE of POLEHEMUS STREET. The incident reportedly occurred around 3:30 am on Friday 31st May, 2013 during a burglary at the deceased home on Polehemus Street.
Preliminary reports indicate that three (3) men, one of whom was armed with a shotgun entered the residence off Nassau Street and robbed the occupants of electronic items.
It is also reported that as the culprits fled the scene a gunshot was fired which resulted in the deceased being shot. She was taken to hospital where she died shortly after 1:00 pm on Sunday 23rd June, 2013
Officers of the Selective Enforcement Team (SET) arrested the suspect, who is also a resident of Polehemus Street around 1:54 am on Friday 5th July, 2013. Active police investigations continue.
