Consistent with the Commissioner’s Police Plan for 2017, Police in Eleuthera and New Providence seized a quantity of dangerous drugs in separate incidents on Thursday 30th March 2017.
In the first incident, shortly after 12:30pm, police assigned to the Eastern Division conducted a search of a busy area located on Gun Hill Road where they uncovered a quantity of marijuana in a pillowcase.
In the second incident, shortly after 12:30pm, police assigned to the Eleuthera District were on mobile patrol on Russell Island, when they saw a man standing on the side of the road with a bag on his shoulder acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers dropped the bag to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the man. The bag was searched and two pounds of marijuana was found.
Then shortly before 6:00pm, police in Harbour Island, conducted a search of a premises on Barrack Street, where they found a plastic bag containing 26 small foil wraps with marijuana. An adult male was taken into custody in connection with this find.
