(RBPF Release) Bahamas – Three (3) men are in police custody following an attempted stealing at the cashiers’ cage of Atlantis, Paradise Island. Initial reports indicate that around mid-day on Sunday 23rd September, 2012 the men ages 24, 30 and 31 years, entered the cashiers’ cage and attempted to steal monies after spraying a noxious substance.
Quick response by security officers of Atlantis resulted in the area being locked down and all suspects arrested.
Following the arrest, police conducted a search and discovered in the ceiling of the establishment a bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the property of Atlantis.
Police have mounted and intensive investigation into this matter. Active police investigations continue.
**POLICE CONTINUE TO SHUT DOWN CLUBS DURING OPERATION**
In keeping with the Commissioner of Police 2012 policing plan, “Tackling Crime and Enforcing the Rules of the Road”, officers of the Northeastern Division and the Central Division conducted two (2) separate operations.
The operations were held between the hours of 6:00 pm on Saturday 22nd September, 2012 and 3:00 am on Sunday 23rd September, 2012 and resulted thirty-three (33) drivers being cited for various traffic infractions, eight (8) people arrested for various offences and one (1) club shut down.
Five (5) people were arrested on outstanding Warrants of Apprehension, one (1) person for Shop-breaking and Fraud and two (2) people for disorderly behavior.
Additionally, the night club located East Bay Street, was shut down for NOT having a valid business license.
Police are reminding all business personnel to ensure that their business licenses are in valid and placed in a conspicuous place for inspection, as failure to do so may result in prosecution.
