The Singles Ministry at Bahamas Faith Ministries International under the leadership of Pastor Claudine Farquharson will host their “Singles Focus Weekend 2015” September 25th-27th at the Diplomat Center on Carmichael Road. The event will serve as a special time of training and motivation for singles and will especially focus on practical strategies and innovative ideas to transform, re-define, improve and enhance mindsets and lifestyle based on biblical principals.

Under the theme “Stop.Reset.Do”, event organizers have designed three (3) power pack days of principal based teaching sessions, inspiring and instructive workshops and fun based activities specifically targeted towards Single Adults and Professionals. The highly anticipated event, which has chosen “Romans 12:2” to compliment its theme, is once again expected to draw hundreds of interested individuals from throughout the country including several Family Islands

The Director of the Singles Ministry at Bahamas Faith Ministries Pastor Claudine Farquharson says that the goal of this year’s Singles Focus Weekend is to (1) Challenge attendees to maximize their potential by resetting and renewing the way they think, work & live (2) Encourage and inspire attendees to prioritize, pursue and fulfill their aspirations and (3) Provide tools to improve life and work integration and promote a lifestyle of peace and well being.

Pastor Claudine went on further to say “The event, now in its eight year, is undoubtedly one of the premier events of its kind here in the Bahamas and has had a tremendous, life changing impact on persons who have participated over the years.”

There are two (2) special guest speakers for this year’s event including Youth Pastor and Author Glenn Russell who is the founder of “The Ministry Gifts of Glenn Russell” and whose ministry theme is “A Local Touch with A Global Thrust”. Pastor Glenn who hails from Freeport, Grand Bahama is also a sought after motivational speaker, musician and mentor and serves as the Youth Pastor of Universal Household of Faith Church in Grand Bahama where Bishop Ricardo Grant serves as Senior Pastor. Pastor Glenn is married to Mikara Russell and is a graduate of Access Bible School with a Bachelors Degree in Theology with emphasis in Christian Counselling. Pastor Glenn has a strong desire to see young people saved and delivered and has dedicated his life to spreading the good news of the gospel to as many people as he can. He is the author of the book “Am I Doing Wrong While Waiting for Mr. Right?”, which is rapidly becoming one of the most sought after books for singles in the Bahamas.

The international speaker for this year’s focus weekend is Consultant, Author, Television Producer and Motivational Speaker Lakita Garth. Ms. Garth is a graduate of the University of Southern California, a former Miss Black America and a model for global brands such as Nike & Reebok. She has appeared on major television shows including Nightline, Inside Edition, Bill O’Reilly (Fox), Anderson Cooper (CNN), The Tyra Banks show, MTV, BET as well as Focus on the Family’s Mind  over Media. She has addressed thousands of teenagers across the United States as well as internationally and has also testified before the United States Senate on several important issues such as teen pregnancy, HIV and the impact of media on adolescence. In 2007 she wrote the bestselling book “The Naked Truth: About Sex, Love & Relationships” and is the recipient of the CNP’s National Patrick Henry Award. She is married to Jeffrey Wright, CEO of UMI (Urban Ministries Incorporated), the largest African-American Christian publishing and media company in the United States and the couple have four (4) children and reside in Chicago Ill.

Marlin Award nominated singer, songwriter and Praise & Worship leader Mericha Walker is confirmed to minister in music during this year’s event.

Singles Focus Weekend 2015 will kick off on Friday September 25th with the opening night session beginning at 7:30pm and will feature Lakita Garth who will speak on the topic “Stop the Madness-Get off the Roller Coaster”. The following day on Saturday September 26th, several workshops will be held under the banner of “Reset Your Life” and include presenters Lakita Garth who will address the topics “Chasing What Matters” & “Keeping it Real: Let Go, Let Flow” and Glenn Russell who will tackle the subject “Getting the Best from My Relationships”.

Workshop sessions will begin at 9:00am and will also be held at the Diplomat Center. There will also be a time for Q&A after each workshop session.

On Saturday evening, the committee has also planned an evening of fun and entertainment for all attendees.

The weekend will conclude on Sunday September 27th with a special teaching by Senior Pastors of Bahamas Faith Ministries Dr.David & Pastor Angela Burrows who will address the topic “In the Year of the Do, Start with You”. This teaching will take place during Bahamas Faith Ministries Sunday Kingdom Celebration Service which will begin at 10:00am.
