HARBOUR ISLAND, BAHAMAS – Pink Sands Resort, the iconic standard of Harbour Island hospitality since 1951, is closed temporarily from Aug. 15 to Nov. 1, 2015 to allow for renovations and development on the property.
Pink Sands is currently undergoing a grand refurbishment and expansion project in a succession of three phases with famed interior designer David Flint Wood at the helm. During this temporary closure – or phase one – updates will include renovations to the 25 existing guest cottages and development of new guest cottages, expanding the footprint of the resort. The renovations will also include refurbishment to the public areas of the property, such as the front lobby, restaurant, main kitchen and reception area.
By expanding the footprint of the iconic property, the resort will increase employment opportunities for Bahamians and add new services to Harbour Island, as well as increase tax revenue due to higher occupancy, more rentable units and restaurant sales.
“The ownership of Pink Sands Resort is committed to improving the resort amenities, service level and overall guest experience that has made the property a vital part of the Harbour Island community for generations,” explains General Manager Thomas Parke. “We are making substantial investments and look forward to restoring Pink Sands to an award-winning resort once again.”
Once the project is fully completed, Pink Sands Resort will include a new ocean-front pool, new guest cottages with private plunge pools, and restored versions of the current cottages, reception area, lobby, Blue Bar and restaurant. The resort will also offer new private residences for purchase, and has partnered with Boutique Real Estate Advisors to handle the sales. The Pink Sands Residences are currently available for purchase with plans for continued growth in the future.
Renovations will continue after November 1 with the major work completed in the public areas of the resort by the end of the year. Increased opportunities for Bahamian team members will also become available this fall in preparation for the November re-opening.
Pink Sands Resort looks forward to the continued success and support of its Bahamian team members.
