(Eleuthera, Bahamas): With the start of a new school term upon us the memory of six days of waves, games and adventure at Bahamas Out Island Adventures Eleventh Annual Surf Camp is still fresh for four local Eleutheran children.

Pineapple Fields Resort and Edgar Seligman of Eleuthera Island Organics sponsored three of the youths between them and Gregory Town’s Mattheo Albury and Deep Creek Middle School’s Wisdom Thompson and Alicia Albury made the most of the six days spent surfing, snorkeling, caving, exploring and creating art.

“Today was the last day of BOA 11th annual surf camp and it was super awesome,” Mattheo, 14, posted to Facebook on July 16 after taking second place in his heat at the camp’s contest day finale.

Jay Turnquest, 8, attended for a second year on a scholarship provided by the camp itself. Jay was part of the Youth Week. Weeks for teens and tweens were also offered at the camp based near Gregory Town.

With surfing becoming an Olympic sport at the 2020 Games in Tokyo camp directors said they would like to get more local youths surfing.
