Role Summary
An educational Institution based in Eleuthera is seeking a Bursar / Accounting Officer to perform both bookkeeping and bursary duties. The incumbent will assist in the administration of accounting, payroll and budgeting systems that include financial transactions; producing financial statements, reports and summaries.
Accounting
- Monitors office supply levels and reorder as necessary;
- Pays supplier invoices in a timely manner (Processes accounts payable);
- Issues invoices;
- Ensures receivables are collected promptly;
- Records cash receipts and makes bank deposits;
- Conducts periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy;
- Issues financial statements;
- Maintains records of donations and related expenditure;
- Processes payroll runs. Accounts for all payroll related expenses. Prepares and balances period-end reports and reconciles issued payrolls to bank accounts;
- Organizes and performs the billing, collection, deposit, refunding, disbursement and record maintenance of tuition and fees;
- Coordinates and supervises the monetary aspects of registration;
- Manages the financial aid process;
- Manages receipt and posting of all student loan funds;
- Prepares all work/study cheques for students; and
- Interfaces directly with students to resolve all problems and complaints concerning students’ financial accounts.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Accounting is preferred (not required);
- Four to seven years of experience in a non-profit /private institution in the area(s) of accounting or bookkeeping is required; and
- Proven experience with QuickBooks is required.
