(Nassau, Bahamas) – Swift action by police has led to the arrest of a 20 – year old man shortly after he committed an armed robbery on Thursday 13th February 2014.

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, two women had just left a local nightclub located at Coral  Harbour, when two men armed with firearms robbed them of their 2000 Honda Civic Vehicle, two cell phones and jewelry.

One of the men then sped off in the victim’s vehicle, while the other suspect got into a waiting Nissan Sunny vehicle and sped off. The two women immediately alerted police on patrol in the area of this incident. Police immediately sprung into action and pursued the two vehicles.

During the pursuit the  Nissan Sunny vehicle crashed into a wall on Chapel Street and two male occupants made good their escape. Shortly thereafter, the suspect in the complainant’s Honda Civic crashed into a building at Dignity Gardens where he alighted the vehicle and fled on foot.

A short while later Police confronted the suspect  and the suspect pointed a rifle at the police.

The suspect was subsequently shot in the arm by police. The  suspect was taken to hospital where he is detained in stable condition under heavy police guard.

Police also discovered that the Nissan Sunny vehicle was stolen during an armed robbery on 5th February  2014.

The officers in this matter are being commended by the police high command for their swift action and excellent ‘text book’, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
