(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Townships across Eleuthera had been buzzing with activity for the Christmas and now are also doing so for the New Year. On Saturday, January 2nd, 2015, from the morning to the setting of the evening sun, planes darted in and out carrying passengers vacationing in Harbour Island, Spanish Wells and also in Central and South Eleuthera. The top left photo shows one of the many small ferries taking a boat load of visitors over to Harbour Island. On the right, Delta Airlines and  American Eagle await the overflowing passengers patiently lined up outside the small airport to be checked in for their journey back home, while planes land with others filling the rooms and taking the rental cars they leave behind. A rental car agency owner commented that the cars are currently going out as fast as they are coming in and he was based in Central Eleuthera. On the right of the middle pair of photos (above), is the private jet at North Eleuthera’s ariport which brought Greg Norman (World Golf Hall of Famer Greg Norman serves as Chairman and CEO of Great White Shark Enterprises) onto the island and on the bottom left is the aircraft at Rock Sound’s airport owned by entertainer/actor ‘Ludacris‘ who has social media currently alight with photos of his vacationing on Eleuthera – Tarpum Bay, Windermere, Harbour Island and more. These were two of the many private aircraft at the airports on Saturday with more expected on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016.

On the bottom right (above), the locally owned Pineapple Air, seen at the Rock Sound airport, did its part in ensuring well-satisified passengers made their flights out via Lynden Pindling International in New Providence.

On a more solemn note, there were two funerals held on the island on Saturday.  In Gregory Town, accident victim Mr. Mario Thompson was laid to rest and in Governor’s Harbour, beloved resident, Mr. John Henry Sands was also laid peacefully.
