On Boxing Day, Saturday 26th December 2015 two men went fishing around 11am about three miles in the main harbour off Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera. About an hour into the trip they reportedly experienced strong winds and rough seas which caused their kayak to capsize and sink.  One of the men was able to swim to a nearby cay where another local fisherman happened to be passing and rescued him. Checks were made in the immediate area which turned out to be fruitless for the other man identified as as 39 – year old Robin Cadet of Governors Harbour – he remains missing.

A search and rescue team comprising of the police, members of the community and local tour guide, Mr. Paul Petty continued on Sunday morning and were able to recover the kayak which the men were on. Seen in the photo on the right, is the rescued man, a Haitian national identified as Lamisere Louissaint.

According to Superintendent of Police, Christopher Wright, extensive searches have been conducted in the immediate area to no avail.  The search activities of Sunday morning were tapered off in the early afernoon.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force are said to have promised aerial searches.
