Officers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force along with personnel from OPBAT are searching for two (2) Chinese nationals, who went missing on a fishing trip on Sunday 10th March, 2013. Preliminary reports indicate that around 12:00 noon, four (4) Chinese nationals left Jaws Beach in a small Kayak on a fishing trip. The group reportedly encountered bad weather, which resulted in one of the men, age 28 years, abandoning the Kayak and attempting to swim ashore. During his swim to shore on Sunday he was rescued by officers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, in waters off Jaws Beach;

Shortly before 3:00 am on Monday 11th March, 2013 a second Chinese national was rescued in waters near Clifton Pier. The, search for the two (2) others continues.
Officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, along with personnel from OPBAT are conducting the searches.

AIRPORT POLICE MAKE SIGNIFICANT DRUG ARREST**
 
Officers of the Airport Police Station arrested two (2) Colombians after they were found in possession of five (5) pounds of suspected liquid Cocaine.  The men, ages 31 and 24 years were arrested in the Bahamas Customs Hall of LPIA shortly before 4:00 pm on Sunday 10th March, 2013 after disembarking a commercial airline, inbound from Panama.  The suspected Cocaine has an estimated street value of thirty-two thousand ($32,000.00) dollars.  Active police investigations continue. 
 
 
**TEENS ARRESTED WITH SHOTGUN **

 
Two (2) teen boys, ages 17 and 16 years, are in police custody after being found in possession of a shotgun.  Officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) arrested the two around 3:00 am on Monday 11th March, 2013.  Preliminary reports indicate that officers of the Central Detective Unit were on routine patrol on Tonique Williams Darling Highway, when they observed the two (2) and subsequently arrested them.
 
The teens are residents of Yellow Elder Gardens.  Active police investigations continue. 
 
 
**POLICE INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC FATALITY **
 

Police are investigating a traffic accident that has resulted in the death of an adult male.  The incident reportedly occurred around 1:00 am on Monday 11th March, 2013 in the area of the Sandy Port Bridge and involved a gray 2005 Honda Fit, driven by an adult male and occupied by a female and a 2002 silver Acura RXS occupied by two (2) males. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the  gray 2005 Honda Fit, was traveling east  on West Bay Street and the driver of the silver Acura west on West Bay Street when the two (2) collided.  The driver of a Honda Fit received serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 
The female passenger, along with the males from the silver Acura was taken to hospital where at present their conditions are unknown.  Active police investigations continue.  
 
 
**POLICE SEEK ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS**
 

Police are requesting the public’s help in locating two (2) men responsible for an armed robbery.  The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 pm on Sunday 10th March, 2013.  Preliminary reports indicate that a man on arrival to a residence on Buttonwood Drive, Pinewood Gardens, was approached by two (2) males, one of whom was allegedly armed with a handgun.  The culprits reportedly robbed the man of an undisclosed amount of cash and a cell phone and fled the area in an unknown direction.  Police are investigating and appealing to members of the public to be vigilant on arrival to their homes.  Members of the public are also encouraged to get to know their neighbours and to develop an active Crime Watch Group.

“TRAFFIC FATALITY – GRAND BAHAMA”
Grand Bahama has recorded its 4th traffic fatality for the year 2013. Reports are that on Saturday 9th March 2013, around 6:00pm, a 39 year old male of Sea Grape, Eight Mile Rock succumbed to his injuries at the Rand Memorial Hospital. This accident occurred on Thursday 28th February 2013 around 10:30pm on Warren Lavarity Highway in the area of Bahama Rock, which involved a maroon 2001 Chevrolet Lumina that lost control and collided into a utility pole. Police are continuing investigation into this matter.
