Eleuthera, Bahamas (By Race Staff) – A new course layout, featuring a run course over the world-famous Glass Window Bridge, automatic chip timing, and a post-race party at Daddy Joe’s figure to breathe new life into the annual Pineappleman Sprint Triathlon & 5K fun run/walk event scheduled for June 4.
“We wanted to try something new and being able to stage the swim at a world-class beach like Gaulding Cay and a landmark like the Glass Window Bridge to run over, it presented a lot of plusses,” said race director Tom Glucksmann.
The sprint triathlon, 5K fun run/walk and kids’ 400-meter run will now start and finish at Daddy Joe’s bar and restaurant, 3 miles north of Gregory Town the site of the annual Pineapple Festival, and the eatery/hotel will also host post-race festivities. Check in begins at 7.15 a.m.
Daddy Joe’s is part of increased sponsor support this year, which includes long-time sponsors Island Made Gift Shop, Think Simple, Co-Tees, The Cove Resort, Sands Beer, Rainbow Inn, Ocean Tally and Pineapple Fields.
“[Supporting the Pineappleman] gives Island Made Gift Shop a chance to give back to the community that has supported it for all these years,” said Pamela Thompson, who opened the Gregory Town landmark in 1985.
Prizes are designated based on registration nos. and are subject to change as registration continues all month, but will be very close to the following.
