An Eleuthera man of Palmetto Point died at sea just off Governor’s Harbour on Saturday. Officials say that sometime around 11:15am on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 the Police received information of a boating incident in the area of Sunset Inn, Governor’s Harbour. Officers proceeded to the area of the boat ramp, where a local fisherman had just arrived with the apparently lifeless body of an adult male on board. Officers spoke with an adult male of Cupid’s Cay who reported that he along with the deceased and another adult male of Cupid’s Cay went fishing in a 12 – 14ft aluminum boat between Sunset Inn and Pigeon Cay in Governor’s Harbour. While in the boat they heard the deceased make a painful groan, he then fell into the water.
While attempting to pull him back into the boat, the boat capsized. They then started to swim toward Sunset Inn towing the deceased until they were assisted by another fisherman with a boat.
The deceased man is identified as Warren Thompson of South Palmetto Point. He was examined and pronounced dead by Dr. John Mensah while at the Governor’s Harbour Clinic.
His body is expected to be transported to New Providence for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Warren Thompson was 39 years old, born on December 1st, 1976. A close relative had the following to say about him: “He was the best Father to his two children, best Brother in the world…Best uncle ever”
