(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Authorities in Eleuthera have confirmed that, around 4am, they received information that there were two male tourists at the Harbour Island Community Clinic including one who had been stabbed. This male visitor who was stabbed was airlifted by private plane to Florida from North Eleuthera on Saturday morning July 4th, 2015. The injuries suffered were as a result of an altercation that left one of the men with a stab wound near the center of his back and another with a fractured nose. Both injuries were reported as not life threatening.

According to reports, the two victims were on a golf cart with friends at around 3:00 am when another cart allegedly pulled in front of them blocking their path. The ‘blocking’ cart was reportedly occupied by two men, described as a “rasta” and a dark skin male with a low hair cut as well as by a female.

A fight reportedly developed between the four men. It is alleged that during the fight,  the man identified as a “rasta” pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the visitors, an adult male from Florida. The other man described as having a “low hair cut” allegedly punched the other visitor, another male from Florida, in the face, causing him to bleed from the nose.

Both injured men sought assistance from the the Harbour Island Community Clinic. The victims were seen and treated by Dr Kapuno and Nurse Saunders. They were both referred for further medical treatment.

Police report that two males, ages 28 and 18 are currently in custody, along with a 24-year-old female. They are said to be assisting police with the investigation and charges are expected to be levied as early as Monday, July 6th.

The two visitors were said to have arrived on Harbour Island on July 2nd aboard a yacht for the American independence holiday weekend and were scheduled to leave on July 6th.

The victim with the fractured nose is said to have remained on island.

Sources say the accused in this case, claim that the carts being driven by the visitors were rented from their business and that they attempted to stop the males  because they appeared to be intoxicated.
