(Eleuthera, Bahamas ) – Two police officers were airlifted to New Providence on Wednesday to seek treatment for injuries received in a two vehicle accident at an intersection along Queen’s Highway in Savannah Sound.
According to authorities, at about 9:12am the accident was reported to the Rock Sound Police Station, with a request for an ambulance. When responding officers arrived on the scene at the intersection of Windermere Island Road and Queen’s Highway, they found a police Constable lying on the grass on the eastern side on Queens Highway, he indicated that he was in severe pain from his back and neck and was unable to move. A second police Constable was seen sitting on the tail gate of a vehicle and he indicated that he had severe pains from his back area but he was able to walk.
The driver of the second vehicle, a female American, who is currently staying on Windermere Island, was observed sitting down on a towel holding an ice pack to her forehead that was provided by Nurse Ingraham from the Tarpum Bay Clinic who had arrived with the assistance of South Eleuthera Emergency Services (SEEP). She indicated that her teenage daughter was also in the vehicle at the time, however she had left and went to her residence with no apparent injuries.
The two Constables were transported to the Rock Sound Clinic via EMS for initial Medical evaluation and were referred to New Providence for further evaluation and medical care.
The occupants of the other vehicle were transported to the Governors Harbour Clinic via EMS for evaluation and medical care.
Superintendent of Police, Christopher Wright, says investigations are continuing into this matter.
