(Eleuthera, Bahamas ) – Shortly after 9am on the morning of Saturday, June 6th, officers at the Rock Sound Police Station received reports of an overturned vehicle on Queen’s Highway, South of the Cotton Bay Club towards Green Castle.  Officers responding to the scene discovered a light blue Volkswagen vehicle, and the unresponsive body of a female. She was pronounced dead by Dr. Smith, Medical officer for South Eleuthera, and became the second road fatality on the island for 2015. 

 

The victim,  is a resident of Eleuthera in her early 30’s. whose identity is not being published out of respect for family who may not have yet been notified.

Update: Sunday, June 7th, 2015, the victim has been identified as Mrs. La’Tisha Hunt Burrows.

 

According to Superintendent Wright, speed is suspected to have played a factor in the traffic incident, and added that officers from the New Providence Traffic Division were traveling to Eleuthera to conduct further investigations.  

 

Wright, is imploring the motoring public to slow down and to wear seat belts for safety – especially during this holiday weekend.
