(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – On Wednesday 3rd  June, 2015 while conducting enquiries, Officers from the Rock Sound Police Station reported that they arrested an adult male at 11:55am in reference to assault with a deadly weapon. They reported that sometime around 11:45am on Wednesday the 3rd of June 2015, while in the vicinity of Ocean Hole Drive they attempted to stop a blue Nissan Teana which they had prior information on. As they attempted to stop the said vehicle the male driver clad in a white shirt and a Khaki pants, known to them, exited the said vehicle on the driver’s side. He was informed by the said officers that they needed to see him however; he got back into the vehicle and reversed out the yard.

The driver then sped off with another male known to them attempting to knock down one of the officers who attempted to stop him. However the driver continued towards him. As a result in fear for his life the officer discharged several shots from his Police issued revolver. 

The driver continued on in the direction of another officer also attempting to run him over, as a result he was in fear for his life and also discharged several rounds from his Police issued revolver attempting to stop the vehicle, which did not stop. The mentioned officers gave pursuit of the vehicle which continued on at a high rate of speed and collided with a red Honda CRV Jeep registered to Bahamas Immigration and driven at the time by Sr Immigration officer Darling, and did not stop. The officers gave chase and lost the vehicle in the vicinity of Albury Lane Rock Sound. 
The said officers later caught up with the vehicle and driver in the vicinity of the Rock sound Police station, a search was conducted of the vehicle for dangerous drugs and firearms with negative results. One (1) “side kick” hand gun holster was found. The suspect is presently in custody.
It is believed that police wanted to question the man in reference to immigration matters.
