Eleuthera, Bahamas (Press Release): With its Saturday, June 6 race day now quickly approaching the sponsor support for the annual Pineappleman Sprint Triathlon has been, if not overwhelming, very impressive.

Leading the way once again are featured sponsors: Think Simple, Island Made Gift Shop, Rainbow Inn, Sands Beer and Pineapple Fields Resort.

Featured sponsors pledge financial support as well as race rates and prizes, equaling a grander race day experience, and enabling race registration proceeds to benefit the Zion Children’s Home of Current Island.

To date the prize list reads: 3-night stay at Pineapple Fields, Sands Beer cases, $50 gift certificates (2) to Rainbow Inn, 1 hour massages by Island Touch Massage and Body Works Bahamas, Dinner for 2 at Ocean Tally, Timex Watches (2) by Mystery Shopper, and Lunch for 2 at Laughing Lizard Café.

Now race organizers are hoping the general public will come out to participate on a race day that this year, as well as the signature sprint distance (500-meter swim, 16-kilometer cycle, 5K run) triathlon, is also featuring a stand-alone 5K fun run/walk. The race is hoping to break an attendance record set last year, but it can’t happen without local support.

Two junior events – a 200-meter swim/800-meter run aquathlon, and 400-meter run – are also on the race day itinerary. Entry to the 400-meter run is free and prizes will be awarded for top finishers in all events.

Entrants get a Co-Tee’s race t-shirt and race packets will include a Think Simple water bottle, Island Made Gift Shop stickers, 10% off coupons for Daddy Joe’s and Laughing Lizard Café and more.

Free stand up paddleboard rentals are offered during and after the race by organizing sponsor Bahamas Out Island Adventures. Post-race music and free beer (courtesy of Sands Beer) are more perks for entering this year’s Pineappleman, which kicks off the Saturday schedule for Gregory Town’s annual Pineapple Festival.

A first-ever Slowest Bicycle Race, where cyclists must negotiate a 25-meter course – slowest time wins, will also take place.

Check in for the triathlon is 7.15 a.m. 5K fun run/walk check in begins at 7.45 a.m. and the junior race check in at 9 a.m.

Zion Children’s Home will also have chicken souse for sale and baked pastry items. Z.C.H. will also be selling its logoed bags and mugs Out Island Eco has donated compostable cups
