(Nassau, Bahamas) – Three schools from Eleuthera travelled to New Providence on Wednesday, March 4th, to take part in the 2015 National High School Track and Field Championships, which got underway on Thursday morning, March 5th 2015, including Preston Albury High School (PHAHS), Central Eleuthera High School (CEHS), and North Eleuthera High School (NEHS).
Day one on the track saw students from more than 40 schools competing in the 100m heats, 400m heats, 1500m finals, as well as the 4x100m heats. Officials confirmed that nearly 800 of the approximately 1700 students competing at the meet were from the family of islands, making it a truly national event this year.
Notably, all three schools had finalists in the 1500m U20 Boys event, and two CEHS students competed in the 1500m U20 Girls finals (Kevanika Miller and Kadesha Sands).
Rachard Knowles of PHAHS also made it through the 400m U14 Boys heats to the finals on Thursday evening and finished 4th overall in his race.
Eleuthera athletes, Donneisha Anderson and Keianna Albury, now studying at Saint Augustines College also continued to show their dominance, winning the 400m U20 Girls final, and the 100m U20 Girls final, respectively.
In the 4x100m heats PHAHS had two teams, the U16 Boys and U18 Boys who both finished second in their heat and expect to compete on Friday evening, shortly after 8pm during the 4x100m relay finals.

Eleutherans can look out for these young men on the track tonight (The U16 Boys 4x100m team from Preston Albury High School – Jermaine Deveaux; Travjuan Alleyne; Dexter Hall; and Christopher Lloyd), as well as (The U18 Boys 4x100m team from Preston Albury High School – Tyler Leary; Nathan Rolle; Jeremy Thompson; Koby Nesbitt).
The U14 Boys team from PHAHS may also have a shot at competing tonight. They include: Johnathan Hall, Keiron Morley, George Rolle and Rachard Knowles.
