(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – The Eleutheran is currently following up on a report that a young man from a sailing boat passing through waters near Cape Eleuthera was seriously injured in his lower leg at sea and subsequently pronounced dead after he was taken to the Rock Sound Clinic.
According to officials, a 34-year-old Amercian was in a vessel with his girl friend when he fell and injured his leg.
According to The Island School, that organization received a mayday call about 10:45am from the man’s companions and responded with medical personnel in a boat to the Schooner Cays. “Despite the best efforts of our staff and those of the local doctor, nurses, and medical team at the Rock Sound Clinic who responded in stabilizing, treating and attempting to resuscitate the patient, the young man has passed away,” said Christian Henry of the Island School.
“In this moment, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this young person,” he added.
It is important to note that the young man was NOT associated with The Island School.
