(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – In December of 2013, The Eleutheran, published an article entitled, “Eleuthera woman suffers serious bites from pack of dogs while walking on a Central Eleuthera beach.”

What was known at that time was that a 42 year old female of Central Eleuthera was attacked by a pack of seven dogs on Friday morning, December 27th, 2013, as she was walking alone along a north shore beach located between James’ Cistern and the Governor’s Harbour Airport.  The pack which appeared to be led by a pitbull left Mrs. Carnetta Gaitor with serious wounds about her legs, knees, and arms.  Her husband was informed of the vicious attack by a winter resident passerby and his wife. The victim was subsequently flown into New Providence for treatment.

A photo was also published of the thoroughly bandaged body of the badly injured victim, who endured the attack and had suffered multiple bite wounds to her feet, legs and arms.

On the morning of Monday, January 13th, 2014, the alleged owner of the dogs involved in the attack, Mr. Marcin Ondella, appeared in court and was charged with six counts of ‘permitting a ferocious dog at large’ (NB: this charge was most likely altered at a later point to include seven counts)

The accused entered a plea of ‘not guilty’, at that time, and was released on bail in the amount of $5,000 with two sureties.

According to local authorities at that time, the fate of the dogs would be determined after completion of the trial.

After nearly a full year of trial delays, postponements, and rescheduling, on Tuesday, December 10th, 2014, the accused appeared before the Magistrate’s Court at Governor’s Harbour where he was convicted of 7 counts of ‘Suffering to be at large an Unmuzzled Dog’.

He was fined $150.00 on each count.
