(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Separated by two days each, Queen’s Highway, the one road stretching more than 100 miles across Eleuthera, has claimed its third life in less than a week. According to reliable sources, a young man, identified as Harry Sands Jr. from New Providence with close ties to Central Eleuthera and believed to be 19 years old, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Saturday evening April 19th, 2014. 

The accident happened between 8 and 9 pm according to witness accounts. The young man, a member of the Platinum riders club, was reportedly traveling with four other riders south towards Green Castle from Rock Sound.

The tragic incident happened around the steep curve near to where the ‘welcome to Rock Sound’sign exists on the southern end of Rock Sound,  where according to a rider in the group he “did not make the curve”.

According to reports,  the deceased was driving a green and black Suzuki motorcycle when he lost control and careened unto a dirt road where he crashed.

He was rushed to  Rock Sound’s clinic in critical condition where he was pronounced dead.

This deadly incident was the second such motorcycle crash in two days and the third road fatality in six days. On Thursday, April 17th, 2014 a motorcyle crashed into the back of a vehicle in Governor’s Harbour, leaving its young rider dead. Two days earlier, a resident of Palmetto Point was walking along the main road when he was struck and killed by a driver who subsequently pleaded guilty, and paid the $5000.00 dollar fine imposed by the court. The motorcyle rider killed in Rock Sound on Saturday, was also had close family in Palmetto Point.
