NASSAU, The Bahamas – Cabinet Office has announced that the Remembrance Day Service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 11a.m. at Christ Church Cathedral on George Street.
Governor-General Sir Arthur Foulkes and Lady Foulkes will lead the list of invited guests and members of the British Legion Bahamas Branch in honouring those who fought in World War I and World War II. Members of the Diplomatic Corps will also be attending both services.
A Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Cenotaph in the Garden of Remembrance, Parliament Street, will follow the church service.
In light of these services, the Traffic Division of The Royal Bahamas Police Force is announcing several changes to the traffic flow.
- From 10:00 a.m. until after the service at Christ Church Cathedral, George Street between Bay and Duke Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic.
- From 12:00 noon until after the procession passes from Christ Church Cathedral the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:
- Duke Street between Cumberland and Market Streets
- Princess Street between Frederick and Market Streets
- Shirley Street between Frederick and East Streets
- Parliament Street between East Hill and Bay Streets
- Bank Lane between Shirley Street and Bay Streets
TRAFFIC DIVERSION: At the commencement of both services, vehicular traffic not connected to the service will be diverted through side streets. There will be no parking from 7:00 a.m. until after the service and no vehicles will be permitted to park on the following streets:
- George Street between Bay and Duke Streets – Both Sides
- Parliament Street between East Hill Street – Both Sides
- Woodes Rodgers Walk
- Bank Lane between Shirley and Bay Streets – Both Sides
