A retired resident of North Eleuthera was the victim of a scary home invasion in Upper Bogue during the wee hours of Tuesday morning August 13th, 2013, according to information received from reliable sources. The perpetrator is suspected to have gained entry through a window and woke the victim while threatening her with a knife. It is believed that she was subsequently tied up and robbed of cash, jewelry and credit cards. He was then said to have taken the victim for a ride in her vehicle, but returned her to her home reportedly, after pleas from the victim. He then left, taking the victim’s vehicle, which was said to have been later found in The Current in an area near the mailboat dock.
Police reports said the man attempted to sexually molest the victim.
Members of the community said and authorities later confirmed that police did take someone into custody during the day on Tuesday, and that the investigation was ongoing.
The person in custody, a 22-year old of Lower Bogue, is believed to be no stranger to police and may have been recently released on bail for another matter.
