NASSAU, The Bahamas – Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie left the capital, on July 2, 2013, and is leading a delegation to Trinidad and Tobago for the 34th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). 

Among the senior Government officials slated to attend the meeting as part of the delegation are Minister of Tourism the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration the Hon. Frederick Mitchell, Minister of Labour and National Insurance the Hon. Shane Gibson, High Commissioner to CARICOM His Excellency Picewell Forbes and Honorary Consul with the Honorary Consulate of The Bahamas to Trinidad and Tobago Dr. E. Monica Davis. 

The Heads of Government will discuss various areas of development in the region including the economic situation facing member states and the region, transportation, information and communications technology, rights of the disabled and persons with special needs and external trade issues.  Minister Mitchell will present a report on a CARICOM Ministerial Fact-Finding Mission he led to the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), June 24-26, 2013.  Topics that will be discussed include governance in TCI, the workings of the judicial system and the economic and social conditions there.
