(Nassau, Bahamas) – Eleuthera’s  debate champions, Central Eleuthera High School, dispatched their powerful debate trio to New Providence this week to compete in the first round of the National Debate competition held on Friday January 18th.  The three students, Darelle Sands, Jameka Carey and Octavia Rolle representing Eleuthera, came up against Aquinas College, opposing the moot “Be it resolved that the legalisation of gambling will positively impact Bahamian Development.”

The best speaker on the day was adjudged to be Octavia Rolle of Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera.

Central Eleuthera High School in November 2012, defeated the other local schools in the island competition at the District Education Office in Savannah Sound.

Next for the team will be the quarterfinals competition on February 15th, 2013 in New Providence.
