(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Hatchet Bay, Central Eleuthera,  along the main road in the vicinity of the farms, was the scene on Monday at about 3:30pm, December 3rd, of a deadly car accident involving an Eleuthera man, originally of Bogue who resided in Harbour Island.

Sometime after 4:30 pm, police received a call about an accident on the Queen’s Highway, in Hatchet Bay.  Officers proceeded to the area, where they found the body of a dark adult male, identified as Alvin “Green” Cash in the area of the Hearty Mow Farmlands.  Officers received information that medical personnel had been contacted.

An ambulance arrived on the scene with a team of nurses from the Hatchet Bay clinic, who proceeded to provide resuscitation, however, no signs of life were reported.

Mr. Cash, a taxi-driver in Harbour Island, was subsequently pronounced dead by Dr. Ajero.  Police say that, although they are still in a very early stage of the investigation, it appears as if the male was the lone occupant of the vehicle (a burgundy 1998 Oldsmobile Bravado) and they are still trying to ascertain what may have happened.

Authorities are appealing to the general public who were in the area between 3:30 and 4:00 pm and may have witnessed what occurred, to contact police at 919, 332-3500, or 332-2111 with any information relative to this incident.  Police are also asking residents and visitors to drive with caution and care, especially during this holiday season.

A team of investigators from the traffic division in Nassau have been informed, and are expected to arrive on island shortly to continue investigations into the accident.
