Sprint Triathlon and Jr. Pie participants, along with event volunteers gathered for a photo after the morning competition.
(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – The annual Pineappleman Sprint Triathlon had its largest showing ever today, Saturday June 7th, 2014, on the waterfront in Gregory Town. Organisers will forward results and more details later, but here in three photos, you get a sense of the energy in town this morning. A tagged manatee also made a visit to the harbour, which attracted its own crowd of onlookers. Proceeds from the event go to the Zion Children’s Home on Current Island in North Eleuthera, and a group from the Home were present with youngsters participating in the ‘run only’ part of the Jr. Pie “Swim – Run’ event. A large friendly manatee made an appearance in the Gregory Town harbour during the Triathlon. Some onlookers were tempted to get closer to the huge mammal, who enjoyed a long drink of fresh water from hosed supplies on the dock.
Children and staff from the Zion Children’s Home on Current Island – beneficiaries of funds raised during the Triathlon – all smiles on Saturday morning.
