The event was hosted at Knowles Courts in Palmetto Point, Eleuthera.
Players from Nassau, Harbour Island, and Mainland Eleuthera came together on March 1st and 2nd at Knowles Courts in Palmetto Point, Central Eleuthera, to contest in the 3rd Annual ‘Eye of the Tiger’ Doubles Tennis tournament. Tournament co-director and Eleuthera Tennis Association president, coach Hartie ‘Artie’ Johnson, expressed that the matchup was again a success.
Players competed in men’s doubles, ladies doubles, as well as mixed doubles games. In the men’s doubles, the pair of Horatio Green and Jethro Armstrong bested the group, taking home the championship title. They were followed by runners up Matthew Pryor and Spencer Caidley, and Consolation winners, Tom Glucksmann and George Brewer.






The ladies doubles saw Sarah Brie and Elisa Herbst emerge as the champion pair, followed by runners up Lele Tsumpas and Taryn McKinney Lambert. Consolation winners were Destiny Mackey and Andrielle Gardiner.
In mixed doubles matchups, Jethro Armstrong and Elisa Herbst worked best together, beating out the others for the champions title. Ted Williams and Elizabeth ‘Buffy’ Williams took home the runners up trophy, and Tom Glucksmann with Lele Tsumpas were the consolation mixed doubles winners.
Coach Johnson expressed a special thanks to co-director Ms. Sarah Brie for securing the sponsorship for this year’s tournament from Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, as well as to volunteer and summer camp manager Mrs. Elva Nixon – for always being ready and willing to help. Special thanks also went out to the Eleuthera Tennis Association’s vice president Mr. Chris Evans, and to the chaplin Mr. Charles Rolle for assisting with the umpiring of the weekend’s tennis matches. To the event’s caterer, Ms. D’Andrea, coach Johnson described the food provided as ‘Off the Chain’!
