(Eleuthera, Bahamas) At Deep Creek Middle School (DCMS) in South Eleuthera, many students have pursued a high school education abroad. In the past ten years, DCMS students have attended boarding schools throughout the US and Canada and have been offered over $5 million in financial aid from these institutions. Applications to these schools are time-intensive and add a substantial workload to students’ academic requirements.
Student Simeon Bethel has been accepted and enrolled at Deerfield Academy, and independent private school in Western Massachusetts. David Miller, former Island School faculty, and current Director of Global Studies at Deerfield, met Simeon during the DCMS Grade 9 trip to the US to visit boarding schools. Simeon has expressed excitement about the fact that there will be a contact at Deerfield who shares a love for Eleuthera and the middle school.
Jeff Armes, Dean of Admissions at Deerfield Academy, first met Simeon last November during the Nassau Boarding School Fair. He writes that, “we are so excited that Simeon will be with us in the fall and wearing the green and white. Welcome Simeon and Deep Creek Middle School to the Deerfield Family! Go Big Green 2020!”
