It is such an impressive sight to see athletes from Harbour Island, Spanish Wells and all across Eleuthera, gather to give their all in competition for their schools guided by dedicated coaches, and determined to succeed in spite of the lack of resources at many of the schools.

For a few, their dominance over their peers on the island has long been established and they have their sights set on competition in New Providence coming up this week and beyond.

Three sprinters that immediately pop to mind are:

  1. Treshae Clarke (left) had been away at school in the past couple years but was once again a welcomed sight on the track. She was clearly dominant again this year in her U18 category, winning the 100m, 200m and 400m finals.
  2. Rashad Cartright (2nd from left) of North Eleuthera High School, who once again blasted his competition away in the 100m and 200m, this year in the U20 category.
  3. Aaron Cox of North Eleuthera High School, who continued his dominance in the 100m and 200m,  U18 category.

This list of three is by no means exhaustive and these and all the winners of the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m final races are featured in the gallery below which is also designed to show the race finishes.   The captions of the photos list the top three runners in each race. Times are not available.
