(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – Shortly before 8am this morning, February 2nd, 2015, according to eyewitness accounts, a white Hyundai flat bed truck lost control while travelling south on the wet main highway near the vicinity of The Marketplace in Rock Sound, Eleuthera.
The driver of the vehicle which had three front passengers on the inside ( including the driver) and three passengers on the back of the truck, described the vehicle beginning to swerve from side to side before landing on its side off of the main road. All passengers were taken to the Rock Sound Clinic to receive treatment.
Two of the passengers who had been located on the back of the truck were said to have received injuries serious enough to possibly require further treatment in New Providence.
The vehicle and passengers were part of a construction crew out of Governor’s Harbour, headed to a job site in South Eleuthera at the time of the incident.
The deluge of rain also was the cause of students at the Preston H. Albury High School being sent home at about 10am on Monday morning. High numbers of students reportedly got soaked, by the heavy rain on their way to school and as a result the decision was made by school administration to allow the student population to return home, as opposed to attending classes in wet shoes and clothing. The normal school day resumes on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015.
