(Eleuthera, Bahamas) – On Monday evening, December 29th, 2014, Unique Village Restaurant hosted a tantalizing ‘Soft Launch’ event, in celebration of their new chef, Makaya Talbot, and her deliciously new menu offering.

Chef Talbot commented that the fresh culinary line up was the result of work during the past two months, adding that efforts had also gone into improving the atmosphere and appeal of the locally owned restaurant.   With its new gourmet flair, Talbot said that Unique Village is  ready to cater to their customers’ every whim and special moments, including anniversaries, brunches, corporate lunches, weddings, private dinners, catering and more.

Use of the freshest ingredients from local farmers and markets, said Chef Talbot, is her practice, as well as everything being made ‘from scratch’.  “You can indulge, without feeling guilty”, she continued, expressing her passion for healthy, well balanced ingredients.

Invited guests were first treated to a buffet with samplings of the revamped lunch menu, which included a variety of flat bread pizzas topped with brie and mozzarella cheeses, panini, several sauced chicken wings choices, including a maple bacon and a honeyed ginger sauce, as well as conch fritters and a corn and zucchini herbed variety.  The buffet was followed by entrée samples served as individual courses, beginning with a delicately spiced pumpkin soup; then came tastings of decadent stuffed mushrooms, crab cake bites with a coconut curry sauce, stuffed lobster with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, tender butcher’s block lamb, filet mignon with spaghetti vegetables and fingerling potatoes, topped off with a fruity cake dessert and cream.

Chef Talbot, who has more than fourteen years of experience under her belt, hails from Grand Bahama, and expressed her excitement being in Eleuthera, saying,  “This is not just a job, or a career.  This is my passion!”
