An enthusiastic crowd in excess of 100 people showed up at the Cupid’s Cay dock throughout the day on Monday October 6th, 2014 to participate in the Bahamas Customs auction 2014, which began at 11am, with items available from Customs locations along the length of Eleuthera compiled for quick cash sale.

Would-be buyers were from all over the island, with representation from Deep Creek in south Eleuthera to central Eleuthera and as far as Current Island in the north. Several shared that it was because of Eleutheranews.com that, they had learned about the auction.

Cars were gotten rid of quickly, then Customs officials moved to the large stockpiles of general items and household goods. Many lots started as low as $5 and patrons took full advantage.  After an hour break at 1pm for lunch, bidding began once again at 2pm until all the items on the auction list were sold or discarded.  The afternoon wrapped up with the sale of a number of motorcycles and ATV vehicles.

While some items were in good condition others showed evidence of wear while in storage. The day’s event included some hard fought bidding, many steals of a deal, and much laughter as the main auctioneer injected lightheartedness sprinkled with fun during the serious business during the auction event on the Quay – Cupid’s Cay.
